The Martian

The very best films have one commonality: they transcend mere entertainment to make us think about our humanness. About why we are special. About why our hope is fully realized in sacrificing ourselves for others. And, maybe how important it is to realize there is some humor in being completely screwed. This is a movie about the resiliency of the best of us. It so full of hope for us as a species, it’s hard to believe who made it. It is completely astounding…truly unfathomable to me that this movie came from the same man who directed Prometheus, a film that really seemed to hate humanity and was exhausted with our failed attempts at reaching our potential. The Martian couldn’t be more different. And it is so, sooo much better for it. You probably already know if this is a movie for you. If you are in doubt, just spend the money. You won’t regret it.
